Strawberry Daiquiris
Episode: There Goes the Neighborhood

This is a flexible recipe for a slushy frozen daiquiri. If you like your daiquiris really frozen like sherbet, double or triple the quantity of ice. You can also use either fresh or frozen strawberries, however, if they are frozen in sugar syrup, you may want to eliminate the powdered sugar in the recipe. This recipe makes six servings. If you’ve really invited the whole neighborhood (or they’ve invited themselves!), it’s best to make batch after batch, rather than risk overloading your blender. A strawberry slice and a mint leaf skewered on a pink flamingo swizzle stick would be a perfect garnish.

4 1/2 ounces light rum
2 ounces strawberry liqueur (optional)
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon powdered sugar
1 1/2 cups strawberries, sliced or coarsely chopped
1 cup crushed ice

Put all the ingredients in the container of a blender. Cover and blend on high for about 30 seconds or until the strawberries are smoothly blended into the other ingredients and the drink is the proper consistency. Serve in shallow cocktail glasses. Serves 6.
